eat, pray, love coverI might say this about all the books I feature on my blog this year :D, still “Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert” is one of the best stories I have ever read. Starting this year, I promised myself to read some fine books, to be inspired, shaken, revolutionized and so on. This book did just about that and even more. In Gilbert’s story from Italy to India and finally Indonesia, from pain to self-discovery to self-mastery to enlightenment, you are transported in this amazing spiritual journey lifting your heart and presenting a whole new perspective on life. I strongly recommend this book, now on my all times most favorite list. Please find below my top four most favorite quotes from the book:

On Soul Mate:

“People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.
A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave.
A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life, then introduce you to your spiritual master…”

On Destiny:

“The Bhagavad Gita–that ancient Indian Yogic text–says that it is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else’s life with perfection.”

On Being Broken:

“There’s a crack (or cracks) in everyone…that’s how the light of God gets in.”

On Having a Baby:

“Having a baby is like getting a tattoo on your face. You really need to be certain it’s what you want before you commit.”
